Title : Culture of publishing in India
Short Abstract : Published materials greatly influence national policy and public thinking to a large extent. It is critical that there is a bridge between those who publish the academic material and young scholars and academicians, the main contributors and consumers of this knowledge. This workshop aims to put renowned publishers of the country in conversation with the young minds, to facilitate a better understanding of the discipline as well as the future of academic writing in India.
Long Abstract :

For the continuous sustenance of academics within any space, it is necessary that there is a good and healthy interaction between the ones who produce this knowledge as well as those who spread this knowledge. Being aware of where to publish is sometimes as critical as what to publish.
Since journals that get published are housed within the public domain, they also have a great bearing on national policies and on the public thinking to a great extent. Emphasis on what will be important to the audience keeps changing with time and what gets published in turn also changes the opinions of the readers.
The workshop aims towards bringing various publishers on a single platform and explore what the scope of the discipline is vis a vis the published material. Not only print media, but the workshop would also touch upon the new emerging avenues of digital media, which completely changed the dynamics of publishing by doing away with the physical and geographical boundaries of the published material and helps in reaching places which were hitherto almost impossible to access.
