Short Abstract : This Round Table (RT) intends to introduce, in a global scale, the National Institute of Science and Technology of Brazilian Football Studies, created in 2022. In the same way we expect to present the main networks that were established in a interdisciplinary perspective between different South American researchers that have football as an object of study. Also in this perspective this RT will lauch future projections on the field of Anthropology of Sports.
Long Abstract :

Currently football can be considered one of the largest phenomenon of global scale and wide socio-cultural capillarity around the world; and in this scenario South American countries play a globally recognized role. Considering the importance of football in this context, the National Institute of Science and Technology (INCT) of Brazilian Football Studies was created in 2022. The purpose of the INCT is to discuss and deepen the debates about the sociocultural importance of this sport in Brazil and in South America.

The INCT is coordinated by two anthropologists Carmen Rial (Federal University of Santa Catarina) and Mariane Pisani (Federal University of Piauí) and has as main objective to establish football as an empirical object for the constitution of interdisciplinary networks of studies and research. The INCT aims to instruct and bring together researchers at all stages of training (juniors and seniors) and will encourage internationalization by strengthening networks of scientists in four thematic lines: 1) Community Football; 2) Media, supporters and anti-racist movements in football; 3) Footballers' production and careers; 4) Women's, Indigenous and LGBTQIA+ football.

This RT intends to present the construction and development of the INCT and discuss the relationships established among South American researchers from different fields of knowledge in the human sciences that have football as an object of study. Likewise this RT will lauch future projections on the field of  Anthropology of Sports. INCT members from Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina will be present as speakers.
