Title : Researches, informants, mediators: as Russians scholars studied the countries of the Far South in XX-XXI centuries.
Short Abstract : History of classical anthropology records the visits of researchers to distant countries and continents. The scholars conducted their research in cooperation with local consultants, informants, mediators, and their contribution to science should never be underestimated. In fact, their role is important and equals to that of researchers proper. The importance of consultant Brahmans in South Asia in social sciences is now well recognized. In case of anthropologists much is to be discovered, analyzed and publicized.
Long Abstract :

International cooperation has always been a key to the success in developing the methods of ethnography and anthropology. History of classical anthropology records the visits of researchers to places far from their homeland. Success of the research is ensured by joint efforts of many contributors. Scientists, authorities, clerics, experts there and then contributed to the fact that many works of ancient philosophy, languages, classical literatures, music and dance, folklore, regional cultural traditions became famous widely in the world. The importance of consultant Brahmans is now well recognized. The contribution of local scholars, interpreters, informants, mediators, institutions, ?t?., with whom the researchers interacted has not yet received an adequate public assessment, though the role of all those individuals in accumulation of anthropological database is enormous. This fact is marked with gratitude, in particular, in the diaries of the Russian researchers who visited South Asia and South America in XX - XXI centuries. Naturalists, botanists, zoologists, etc. highly appreciated ardor and profound knowledge of the professionals, respected ethics, ecological consciousness, desire to protect nature and cultures in situ. There are examples in history when such special established relationships were maintained later. In case of anthropologists much is to be discovered, analyzed and publicized. Within the framework of this panel, it is supposed to discuss the aspect of the topic, which had been almost neglected in the past. At present the scientific interaction is carried out on a new, deeply thought-out basis. The modern mankind provides these opportunities because the people learn from each other and now know and understand each other better. Research should not be carried out spontaneously, but purposefully. The experience of several projects carried out in recent time proves that international cooperation can be fruitful and promising.
