Tribal women in India have been subject to historical marginalization and exclusion from mainstream society. From a sociological and anthropological perspective, gender, age, and ethnicity are important factors that shape the leisure practices of tribal women and their social development.
Leisure activities can be divided into two categories, namely traditional and modern leisure. Traditional leisure activities are deeply rooted in the culture and history of tribal communities. These activities include traditional dance, music, handicrafts, and storytelling. Modern leisure activities, on the other hand, are relatively new to tribal communities in India. These activities include sports, outdoor recreation, and other forms of entertainment. Historically, tribal women in India have been subject to patriarchal norms and practices that limit their access to education, health care, and economic resources. However, in recent years, there has been a shift towards greater gender equity in tribal communities in India. In terms of age, Older women play an important role in cultural preservation and may face unique social and economic challenges, while younger women may have greater opportunities for social and economic mobility but may also face pressure to conform to traditional gender roles and norms. Tribal women in India often belong to distinct ethnic groups with their own unique cultural practices and traditions. Considering the status and role of tribal women in India, leisure activities of tribal women, gender, age and ethnicity factors must be understood from a sociological and anthropological perspective.
