Long Abstract
:

The Northeast India is dominated by various tribal communities where they follow their own method of governance traditionally in everyday life. Though tradition itself is quite a contested term and idea but still many glorify their traditional values, governance etc. in the modern times too. However, the incorporation of the modern forms of democracy and governance in these societies, at times we see various contradictions and contestations.

The paper is an attempt to look into many contradictions by bringing in multiple field narratives, in various societies. In the everyday life of modern day governance how marginal communities or individual become more marginal in one hand and on the other sometimes the traditional practices also give less scope of democratisation of the social spaces will be discussed in this paper.
