COVID 19 Pandemic constrained families within the homes and spurred sudden changes in lifestyle. The bulk of the strain associated with the lifestyle change was borne by the women who were principal subjects playing the mothering role for the entire house. This lifestyle changes also envisioned potential possibilities of involvement of men and children as supporters and sharers of the housework. Women faced unforeseen hardships as overall managers, jugglers, multitaskers but at the same time they displayed multiple potentials; they worked as homemakers, tutors, nurturers, chefs, caretakers, barbers and also nurses. While all avenues of engaging the children outside the home were shut, they also became responsible for sustaining happiness in the family for the well-being of children. This paper thus argues that the mothers as mangers within the home were the prime innovators who despite the difficulties associated with the pandemic mothered the house. With closure of schools the women mainly relied on online networks and mediums for communication and innovations during distress. While women faced uncertain moments as schools, parks and recreational centers were closed, they also displayed their ingenuity in a novel environment with new challenges of mothering. The experiences of mothering during the pandemic brings out the tales of turmoil, coalescence of boundaries of home and work, the long lasting and momentary moments with children. The understanding of the experience of mothers during the lockdown is imperative as it will also reveal the challenges faced by children and the possibilities that were available for the children to confront the challenges. It will also bare the role of the fathers who may have also played the roles as supporters and carers to children during the lockdown phase.
