Long Abstract
:

The objective of this research is to know the life and academic trajectory of Ruth Landes in Salvador/Bahia/Brazil, who was one of the first anthropologists to research gender, race and homosexuality in the city of Salvador. The aim is specifically to build the intellectual profile of an anthropologist, the style of her ethnographic narrative, and through the analysis and interpretation of the works and her biographical, especially autobiographical, academic trajectory in the sociocultural context of the city of Salvador and Brazil. The external relevance is to give visibility to anthropologists in the history of Bahian, Brazilian and world anthropology, lacking recognition for the contribution given to Brazilian society and the world history of anthropology. Landes is unknown to the general public and academics from other regions of the country, it lacks recognition and visibility within the canon of the history of Brazilian and world Anthropology. This bibliographical and documentary research aims to provide the preparation of an epistemological critique of the history of science, from a gender, feminist, anti-racist, queer and decolonial perspective. This investigation will map this intellectual, the cultural environment of the time, the criticisms of her interlocutors, such as Artur Ramos, Edson Carneiro, Ruth Benedict, and we will focus on the controversy with Arthur Ramos. The method used in this first stage will be eminently qualitative, hermeneutic, with biographical analysis of the works and their discursive enunciation regarding their condition as a woman anthropologist in Brazil. The works, biographies and autobiographical account of this anthropologist are our corpus of analysis, which will be analyzed from a perspective of gender, color/race/ethnicity, (homo)sexuality, social class, region and nationality. Finally, this research project seeks to bring together several researchers in this intellectual endeavor with the goal of recovering the collective memory of these thinkers in the history of Anthropology.
