Abstract Title
:
A look into the lives of Middle Eastern women in Yiwu
Short Abstract
:
Trying to delve into the inner workings of the Middle Eastern women's community in Yiwu, and to delve into their social lives and their related "internal and external relationships".
Long Abstract
:

With the increasing openness of international trade in Yiwu, the number of Middle Eastern groups in Yiwu is increasing day by day, however, the research on "Middle Eastern women in Yiwu" is still very limited. Most of the previous studies have been conducted from a theoretical perspective, such as focusing on the mobility mechanisms of Middle Eastern traders, or from a "minority group" perspective. Few studies have presented a comprehensive picture of the marital and working lives of Middle Eastern women in Yiwu, nor have they discussed the lifestyles of these groups and the social conditions that support their lifestyles. Because of religious beliefs and gender issues, most previous studies have focused on male foreign trade traders in Yiwu. For male foreign trade merchants, as the group's stay in Yiwu progresses, their religious self-identity does not weaken, but rather grows, and they even build their own world life groups and form Middle Eastern social life circles in Yiwu. However, Middle Eastern women in Yiwu also enjoy the same freedom and convenience in this Middle Eastern social circle?
Middle Eastern women in Yiwu can be divided into three categories, a class of women who followed their husbands to Yiwu, full-time housewives; a class of women who came to China as foreign students and then stayed in Yiwu to work; a class of "second-generation" immigrant girls born in Yiwu, regardless of which category, their lives in Yiwu compared to those of men, are More "invisible".
In the process of shooting the documentary, my female identity made it easier for me to get closer to them, and I tried to go deeper into the group of Middle Eastern women in Yiwu, to depict their social life and its related "internal and external relations".
