This study examines the mental health status of tribes in conflict-affected areas of Chhattisgarh, specifically in the context of the Naxal and Salwa Judum. Through a comprehensive literature review and interviews with key stakeholders, this research sheds light on the mental health challenges faced by the community. Findings suggest a high prevalence of psychological distress among the Adivasis. The implications of these findings are discussed, highlighting the urgency for mental health support in conflict-affected areas
Long Abstract
:

The present study aims to understand the mental health of Adivasi communities living in the conflict-affected regions of Chhattisgarh, India, which falls under the infamous Red Corridor. The research questions are focused on identifying the prevalence of mental health disorders, exploring the contributing factors, and examining the coping mechanisms of the Adivasi community. The ongoing study employed a mixed-methods approach, with a sample size of 200 participants. The findings suggest a high prevalence of depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder among the Adivasi communities. The study highlights the role of poverty, displacement, and violence in exacerbating mental health issues. The research can provide valuable insights for policy-makers to develop effective rehabilitation programs for affected communities and raise awareness about the mental health crisis in conflict-affected areas.
