The tribal women in Odisha are not only consumers, producers, educators and caretakers of their families but also they contribute towards a sustainable eco-system of their surroundings. Be it the collection of minor forest produces or providing equal support in cultivation process, tribal women play significant role in family’s survivability apart from managing the household chores. Though the present day environmental deterioration has impacted negatively to the women workforce and their economic life, the tribal women are still proven to be the best managers of natural resources. Keeping this in background, the present research work attempts to understand the status and role of Kisan women of Sundergarh in contributing their economy and conserving as well as managing the natural resources effectively. By following the eco-feminism perspective, the study attempts to find out the relationship of Kisan women with environment and to explore the knowledge of Kisan women used in managing natural resources effectively for their development.
