Thailand is surrounded by Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and the Gulf of Thailand. It is making the nation prone to immigration from these countries. Therefore, the numerous ethnic groups including the descendants from many races, such as Chinese, Mon, Khmer, Lao, and Indian contribute to the cultural, language, and religious diversity across the region. Ancestral worship in today’s Thailand therefore is an amalgam of elements of Buddhist, Hindu , and animistic beliefs-systems. Thai Monarchy and other mixed culture practices also involve the practice of connecting the deceased relatives with the living world.
The proposed paper discusses this phenomenon of ancestors.
