Leisure is seen as a by product of industrial revolution. Since then, this has been of great interest to sociologists and anthropologists. Lately, this discussion has taken a step forward in exploring how time-inequality exists in society that further leads to leisure gap between men and women. In developed countries, boundaries between work and leisure are clearly demarcated. In fact, major scholarship emerges from the Global North. In the context of developing countries, this discussion remains limited and unexplored. Moreover, absence of strict rigid boundaries between leisure and work continues where contamination of leisure with work is more common than reported. In fact, with recent developments of market economy and consumer culture, leisure definitions have undergone significant changes. Therefore, this talk aims to provide a holistic understanding of leisure and also understand it placing it within contemporary changes.
