Short Abstract
:
India holding big bag of millets will solve economic, health and social issues of women simultaneously. Millet was always in plates of Indians since Indus valley civilization; with changing fast life its value degraded and tagged it with “Poor people food”. But today with more information and results due to millets, scenario has changed. Women have equal capacity as of men, only require opportunity and cooperation.
Long Abstract
:

United Nations declared Year 2023 as “International Millet Year” and role of India is vital in this program. From field to our dining plate a food travels a lot. And in the meantime, changes the lives of people involved directly and indirectly as well. It has vast social impact especially on Rural and Tribal women. India with its more than 65 percent living in villages and tribal areas, depend majorly on agriculture for their livelihood. Among them nearly 82 percent are small and marginal farmers (less than 1 hectare land holding). India today stands first on world chart of population. And nearly 48 percent of total Rural and Tribal population are women. There are social and economic aspects in agriculture which revolves around Rural and Tribal women. Rural and Tribal women, maximum among them are agricultural laborers, struggling hard at two fronts. One at the field which due to capitalist farming demands labor intensive work, also due to Rural and Tribal-urban migration of men from villages new trend of feminization of agriculture is clearly visible across length and breadth of country.  whereas on other side she has to take care of family members including parents of husband and her children. India is a rich country in terms of diverse weather too, gives opportunity for economic strengthening and consequently social prosperity of Rural and Tribal women. This paper will give detailed analysis of several dimensions of life of Rural and Tribal women based on both primary and secondary data and how “Millet” will prove to be a “Miracle Food” for Rural and Tribal women of Asia and Africa as well and sustainable development. Development without on part of society is no development. Our efforts should be towards inclusive growth of society as a whole.
