Short Abstract
:
Non-timber forest resources are vital to tribal livelihood systems. Of which, bamboo shoots and mushrooms play a key role and have been cultivated for ages. It is widely harvested for both consumption purposes and sold in fresh form during the season. Efforts have been made to promote wild mushroom cultivation due to strong monetary and health gain indicators from these forest resources. Locals have been commercially benefited and improved their livelihood. Lack of proper documentation of income from the non-timber forest products in this area has been one of the key issues and with no reflection on the policy making process.
