P075 - World Anthropologies: Learning across Countries, Cultures and Disciplines
Abstract Title
:
'Tiptoeing in the lands of minarets', a narrative for all, cross-cutting disciplines, cultures and countries.
Short Abstract
:
How do we prepare the ground for developing the anthropologies of the world? An answer comes in a narrative contained in the book “In punta di piedi nei Paesi dei minareti” (‘Tiptoeing in the lands of minarets’) by Guslini, De Biagi, Corda, Vita Activa 2022, a documentation of experiences and research whose underlying idea is to make anthropology engaged in the field of education through a way of communicating closer to the public.
Long Abstract
:

How do we prepare the ground for developing the anthropologies of the world?

How to sensitise people to know the essentials of anthropology and move, even virtually, into the contemporary world?

How do we bring universities, schools and the public within a country and from across the globe closer together? Is it possible to find a field of intersection between them and new ways of communicating?

How do we foster cultural exchange and the development of international skills?

The answers to these questions come in a narrative contained in the book “In punta di piedi nei Paesi dei minareti” (‘Tiptoeing in the lands of minarets’) by Giovanna Guslini, Nadia De Biagi, Rosanna Corda, Vita Activa 2022. The book is a documentation of experiences and research from diaries, notes, letters,  interviews, memories, newspapers, personal photographic archives that began in 2016 and ended in 2022. This documentation work has produced eighty one episodes for educational purposes, organised in a 14 chapters unitary narrative text, drawn in my case from field experiences, and for all three authors from autobiographical accounts of migration covering the span of a thirty-year period in different Muslim countries.

The underlying idea is to make anthropology engaged in the field of education through a way of communicating closer to the public that is far from the academic language.

The publication of the book in Italian is making it possible to test its effectiveness with different audiences: university and secondary school students, teachers and heads of schools, adults invited by cultural authorities of municipalities, libraries, international women's associations, networks of Italian schools abroad and cultural institutes. The aim is to get to talk about cultures through captivating narratives expressed in a language within everyone's reach, opening debates and discussions on the main themes of anthropology.
